I made my first visit to Kew Gardens earlier this month while I was in London. As a little escape from the city and a space to contemplate the overwhelming quantity and quality of work I saw at Collect, I took a day out at Kew.
It was a bitterly cold day and I spent much of my time avoiding the snow and warming up in the glasshouses. As a jeweller, I spend my days focusing on tiny details creating miniature forms. It is no surprise that I find myself drawn to detail in the world and in the photographs I take. I tend to notice the little moments, the geometric fold of a palm leaf or the way light highlights a leaf pattern. These details are part of the constant back and forth of inspiration and ideas that feed my designs. In my world this means that being surrounded by the most amazing colourful natural forms, I am found happily photographing the grey metal grill of the floor!
These are some of the details that caught my eye.
